DCB XCT29 Felt Doctrine Style Trail Carbon MTB Frame 29er

I purchased this frame to test with budget components in 2021. I have ridden this bike pretty hard on difficult singletrack (black diamond & intermediate) trails and it has been very good. It functions well as an XC, is light and agile with good responsiveness and handling. In the past 4 months I put the bike up over 4000 ft of climbs with related descents on trails with ruts, roots and other obstacles. The only reason I don't offer a 5 star rating is due to the bike cannot accept a internal routed dropper post. This frame has proven to be durable and reliable, I broken components on the bike from various abuse but the bike still lives! Great value for the proce.

I was undecided about ordering. But I asked a few questions and got prompt response so I decided to give it a go. Bike frame turned up on time and looked fantastic. The build. I bought the frame to replace one I broke so she about transfering the components. My dropper was internally routed and the frame comes with guilds to easily route an externally routed dropper. A little fiddling and this was resolved. There is a hatch at the bottom bracket that allows the easy routing of the hydrolic brake hose. The derailleur is routed internally as cable only. The bike came with a headset and a seat clamp that worked brilliantly. Once built the bike looked fantastic The ride. I live in an area with steep but short inclines and I am a big guy 100kg that chucks out slot if power. I stamped the bike up the hills and found it to be stiff and transferred power well. No noise or creaks. Only down side the frame is so good it is pursuing me to buy a better folk which I guess will cost twice the price of the frame. This is a good product both in looks and performance. I would recommend

The frame arrived much quicker that I thought. It was wall packaged and protected. The frame is gorgeous! I took a few days to swap parts from my old Specialized. Everything went well; everything was a great fit. No issues at all.....I love the new bike frame! We had a lot of questions before purchase...and DCB responded quickly and patiently. Overall, this was a great experience.

My son really love his new hardtail. He also got his best results even riding it for the second time only. Geometry is suitable for cross-country racing but not per the latest standards. But for the price it is very decent. On my side, it took me about 8 hours to build his bike. Even if a rope was missing to fish the rear derailer cable, it was pretty easy to rout it inside. The quality seems to be good but only time will tell if it is reliable. I would have appreciate to be able to route the complete housing but I would need to drill the frame entry hole that was sized for the cable only. For the price I was expecting these minor downsides. However time was longer than expected (5months) but knowing the shortage of new bikes around the world, it was no big problem after all. I definitely recommends it.

Frame looks really good. I only have about 100 miles of gravel road riding on it and everything has stayed nice and tight. Easy to build up, I had a bunch of old parts kicking around that just needed a frame. This worked out perfect. Everything fits as it should!

Good quality frame, very light, nice finish. Everything lined up well, the BB and headset installed nicely, and the internal cable runs worked great. The bike rides great and solid on the trail. This was my transition from 26 to 29 so a big improvement in ride quality.

Super light, fast, and stable! Love it! You don’t need a tool for internal routing because it comes with guide hoses installed. Ty was super responsive and knowledgeable. Only hitch is the wait while the factory prepares your order, but you can upgrade to DHL shipping to avoid the COVID customs complications.

Had this frame since Jan 2020. Built a single speed. Use the DIY Carbon R100 Carbon fork and the DIY Carbon wheels . Used Hope Brakes and a Trick Stuff eccentric bottom bracket. This is a sweet very clean build and I love it. I am big [6' 3"" 210 lbs] and not a very subtle rider and this combo of frame, fork, wheels takes a hammering and just soaks it up. Overall sweet ride, built it up as a pretty aggressive HT. If I could give 4.75 stars I would. Cons 1. Pulling the brake cable. Had to buy the PARK TOOL IR-1.2 CABLE Routing Kit to pull the brake cable 2. The rear brakes back screw was a pain to install. Not much room to tighten it down. Pros 1. Ty was great to deal with 2. Frame held up well on the first ride. Went through a pretty good beating. 3. Other than the two cons an easy build 4. Handles well on the my preferred terrains

Very light and stiff. Quick shipping. The build looks great. I get many compliments on it. Only gripe, the brake mounts are not 100% centered. Not a huge deal, just used a rotor fork to make some adjustments. Would definitely buy from DIY again.

So far so good. Bought a Doctrine style frame, Niner style rigid fork, and Ti Seat post for a monster gravel grinder build. Ty was easy to communicate with via email and everything went smoothly with the transaction. Be prepared to wait the 3 weeks for parts to come from China. Really the only downside but that is something that is listed on the site so it is to be expected. All parts are seemingly well made. As well made as their name brand counterparts. I punish my bikes on old mining "roads" in Colorado above 11k feet where I live and so far I am impressed for the money spent. A few things to note. The derailleur hanger was slightly bent from the factory and I had to order a few new ones. It is a cheap part and they are meant to fail just unfortunate it came slightly tweaked. The headset they send with the frame is also your run of the mill Chinese stuff. My mechanic had to tighten up the headset after the first ride but it seems to be fine now. Not sure if the tolerances are just not perfect or something. If one got the headset specs I am sure it could be replaced with something of higher quality. The thru axles are also on the heavy side. The specs for the axles are printed on them so you could order a super light set like I will do if you are trying to shave as much weight as possible. The seat post is well made and really really light. Fork is beefy. Probably could be lighter but they did not skimp on the carbon layup for anything. - treiberphoto@gmail.com
